I’m currently a 3 hour drive from my nearest casino – Harrahs Cherokee. I was very excited to hear that Harrahs and the Cherokee Nation are opening on a sister property located in Murphy, NC. There has been very little written about this casino so the attached project plan calendar courtesy of Murphy Mountain Living is enlightening.
If this plan is accurate we could see the casino with a long name – Harrahs Cherokee River Valley Casino – open by June of 2015 which is almost exactly a year away. It looks like they will be about 2 hours from Atlanta which cuts my drive time by about an hour each way – thank you. The last time I was at Cherokee one of the dealers said that, although they haven’t heard too many details, from what he understood it is going to be a much smaller footprint than the current casino and depending on results they could scale up in the future.
I’m a fan of Harrahs and their Cherokee property and I’m hopeful that even though NC casino revenues aren’t growing as fast as they once were this additional option in closer proximity to the Atlanta customer base will be a success. As a focus group of one you can count on me being an early customer and if they have a solid operation I’ll be a frequent customer as well.
